#1 item to have at a Conference Portable Power Pack for Smartphones, Tablets & iPods: Lifesaver III – Product Review
There are certain things that a blogger and social media consultant can never be without: their electronics That means that am never without one of these of 3 or 4 things:
My Tablet or
I check my email (regularly, I know, that’s not healthy).
I check my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest feeds multiple times a day. I also check other website pretty frequently.
When I am not writing, chances are I am doing research. I am perusing websites, seeking directions to a location using Google Maps or taking pictures…. Oh, man, don’t get me started on the amount of pictures I take.
That means that I am always plugged in. I have a phone charger in my car. I have to carry cords for my computer and then I need to keep a constant lookout for plugs. I need to get power to my devices. When every I am at a conference or an event, I am always on the look out. Where are the plugs? WHERE ARE THE PLUGS?
It is obvious that when I go to a conference or event that I am going to use my ‘device’ even more. The problem is that when you use these devices a lot, they tend to gun out of power very quickly.
Enter The Lifesaver III a is a portable power pack that can charge my phone, tablet on the fly. The Lifesaver III (distributed by Everik) is a 9000 mAh portable power pack. It has 9000 mAh and 2.4A/2A and 1.5A output/input. What does that mean, exactly? The average consumer figures, the higher that number the better and faster the portable power pack charges their hand-held electronics and cell phones. Even though that number is important, because it determines how many charges it will provide before it needs recharging, it doesn’t determine how FAST the power pack will re-CHARGE their smartphone, tablet or other USB device.
Another major factor in consumer decision making when they are purchasing their portable power pack should be what type of output does my device require? What does is Amp Output? The higher the amp output the faster the charge. Most portable power packs start at 1A output, the entire Lifesaver line was built on 2.1Amp and higher. The Lifesaver III has 2-USB outputs. The 1st USB is 1.5A and the second USB is 2.4A output. Total of 3.9A.
Most older smartphones only required 1A draw, however the newest models on the market today such as the new Blackberries and the new Samsung Galaxies and iPhone 6 etc., all required a minimum of 1.5A draw to be able to be charged, so the 1A output power pack, will not do the job. Tablets require a minimum of 2A draw, so a 1A output will not recharge a tablet because the two cannot communicate.
Knowing which plug you should be using also helps the speed of the charge.
Why am I telling you all of this??? Because I want you to compare apples to apples or a better analogy would be Saturns to Cadillacs… The Lifesaver III was a Cadillac. It charged super quickly (2-3 hours instead of the usual 12 hours with other power packs) and it charged my phone and iPod really quickly. Hands down it is THE BEST charger I have owned.
While I was at conference I noticed that there were an awful lot of chargers be charged. Does that make sense to you? I had my Lifesaver III fully charged and I DID NOT HAVE TO RECHARGE IT. In fact I have been back from my four day conference and I STILL HAVE NOT HAD TO RECHARGE IT. It is THAT GOOD. What is better is that the Lifesaver III can hold its charge for up to 3 months if it is not in use but you will use it, trust me, you will use it and you will love it.
I will not likely ever own another charger (unless of course I get the Lifesaver IV). I highly recommend this charger. It gets 4.5 out of 5 stars. My only complaint was that it is slightly heavier than the one I used to own. Trust me, for the workhorse that is the Lifesaver III, I am willing to overlook that. No question: You have to get one. Current Canadian retailers that carry the Lifesaver III are Canadian Tire and The Future Shop.
