25 Random Things About Me–the 2014 Version

I would have to say about 5 years ago someone sent me a challenge on Facebook to write out a list of 25 Random Facts about myself.  I found this kind of fun and I have updated this list at least once before.  I’ve just realized that I did this almost three years ago and it is time to update it since many things have changed for me and I thought it would be fun.  So here is my 2014 version of 25 Random Things about Me.

  1. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter and a sister.
  2. My motto: Be the change you wish to see in the world - Gandhi. (this canvas hangs in my office).

  3. I am very loyal to my friends - they mean the world to me. Although I remain friends with Pam, Sandy and Peri.  I have gained new friendships with Paula, Wanda and Annie.  All of these women are very very near and dear to my  heart. Below you will see me with Annie at Me to We in Kitchener and Paula & Wanda together at Blissdom 2014.

  4. Don't get caught up in the 'cult of fear': speak up when you witness an injustice. People will bully you in life but you need to know that justice will always prevail.
  5. My husband is the love of my life. Without him I would not be able to excel at what I do. We have been married for 20 years now.  Quite a milestone.

  6. I am like my father: I like savouring good food, reading great books, telling good stories and being surrounded by my family.  I miss my dad a lot.
  7. I lived in Paris, France for a year when I was 17 years old.  Way too young to really appreciate the ‘finer’ things. On that trip I went to East Berlin (before THE wall came downs) and that whole trip was a ‘life altering’ experience.
  8. I am very social. Sometimes I think social media was invented purely for my entertainment.
  9. There is nothing better than a cold, cold beer in the summer, a malbec (my newest discovery) at a dinner party and a Grand Marnier on ice in the wee hours of the morning....I still have some delusion that I can stay up until the wee hours of the morning drinking.

  10. I love LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest. I host @LinkedMoms Twitter Parties and chats with Paula Schuck most Wednesday nights at 8 pm ET... we have some great topics & a fab community that we have worked hard at building.  If you know me, you know I am a chatterbox so this fits my personality to a ‘T’.
  11. I am a night-owl and can often be found sending emails and writing blog posts at 3 in the morning.
  12. I would love to live in Vancouver or Paris.  I am just biding my time in south-western Ontario.  I still consider Montreal, Quebec my home town. I attended McGill University in Montreal (see pictures below).

  13. I am a terrible baker but my husband is becoming a fantastic cook ~ because he likes it. I am discovering the benefits of a crock pot and that is saving my life.
  14. I speak French and Spanish but I express myself best in English.
  15. I was born in South America and I am VERY proud of that fact.
  16. My son H. wields the English language like a samurai wields a sword – expertly and with precision. My daughter H. is very funny and a very competitive athlete. My daughter L. is empowered by social justice and is much stronger then she knows. They complete me... seriously...
  17. I love to work at my business but I love to help others with theirs ~ honestly, I BELIEVE in business karma.
  18. I think very funny thoughts and sometimes they come out of my mouth when they should have stayed in my head.
  19. I am a professional organizer and social media evangelist.  I own two companies and I love working at both equally hard. I think it is very hard to be a small business owner.  That being said, I love what I do!
  20. I believe what Shakespeare once wrote: "All true things are said in jest.” I also believe GOD (and not the devil) is in the DETAILS.
  21. I have an opinion. Did you want to hear it?
  22. If I won the lottery I would travel the world with different people... according to their personalities, personal needs and fun factor. I will go to Chicago or New York City with just about anyone because they are two of my favourite cities.
  23. I love dance music. My favourite song is “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode. Although, Katy Perry's "Firework" leaves a smile on my face.

  24. I believe God places people in our path for a very good reason.  You just need to figure out why.  This is why I am one of the "Church Ladies".  I will need to explain that to some of you.
  25. I have one word on my wall and it reads “simplify”. I work everyday to make that a reality.

  1. Love this! Thanks for sharing the fabulous random you facts. I might have to borrow it for my blog re-start. Except number 1 would be ' I tend to procratinate' and then I'd go get coffee and get back to number 2 by May.
