Best Toothbrush EVER!  I love the Philips Sonic Diamond Clean Toothbrush

Philips Sonicare Toothbrush Review_@DownshiftingPRO_YouTubeI went for my check up today and I passed with flying colours.  I have to give credit where credit is due and I think that my last month with the Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush has been one of the contributing factors.  As I mentioned in my video last week,  I have been pining for an electronic toothbrush since I had my braces few years ago.  As an adult, I made the decision to get braces put on after a consultation with my dentist.  She knows me well and she knew I was experiences problems with grinding my teeth.  Many, many adults grind their teeth at night and this can create pain in your jaw due to the pressure that you exert on your teeth.  To alleviate part of this problem, I opted to get braces in my mid-40s.

When I found out there was an possibility of working with Philips Sonicare to review one of their electric tooth brushes, I jumped at the opportunity because I wanted to share my experience.  Getting braces as an adult is no small commitment in time and resources.  I am really glad I went through the process and I know that the re-alignment of my top and bottom teeth have helped alleviate some of the pain that I felt in my jaw.  You see, when you grind your teeth, you have a tendency to wear down your teeth enamel.  Once you have worn down the top surface of your teeth, you run a greater risk of cracking your enamel also.  This means that you may cause problems resulting in the need for crowns to support your teeth.  For all of these reasons, it is very important that you take care of your teeth throughout your life but you need to be especially careful as you start to age. Studies have shown that deterioration in your teeth, gum disease and plaque have been linked to heart disease.

Last week I posted my video review of the Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean electric toothbrush and I wanted to make sure that you checked it out.  It is an honest and thorough review.  After trying it out for over three weeks I absolutely loved how well it has cleaned and POLISHED my teeth.  I thought maybe I needed to give you a better idea how Sonicare can help with your oral health.

  • drives fluid between teeth disrupting plaque and bacteria were bristles can’t reach
  • proven to remove up to 7X more plaque than a manual toothbrush in hard to reach places
  • whitens teeth in just one week
  • improves gum health in two weeks
  • the diamond shaped bristles provide a greater surface area
  • last three weeks before re-charging

20150625_110931I have to say that I love the way this toothbrush works.  It does get some getting use to, I won’t lie.  I was not crazy about the size of the head of the toothbrush.  It seems so small but to be honest, it doesn’t need to be bigger if you are brushing tooth by tooth. The convenience of having a ‘timer’ that lets you know when to switch quadrants is helpful.  I did not realize that I was not brushing long enough until I started using this toothbrush.  Waiting for the pulse to occur before going to the next section is great for kids too.   I also had to get accustomed to the vibration of the toothbrush. It has different vibration intensity for different settings so you may want to try them all or vary them a bit: clean one time, polish another, whiten another time.

What I really loved about this toothbrush was the convenience of being able to charge the toothbrush either in the glass or in the case.  In the video I mentioned this convenience so its great to travel with the toothbrush and the case all in one place.  Use an adapter for plugging it into the wall or use the USB cord and plug it into your computer… heck with cars being what they are, you could even charge it there.  But to be honest with a charge lasting 3 weeks, you should be fine.

My only concern with having an electric toothbrush is that having to replace them every 3 to 4 months at $20 a head can add up to $60 – 80 per year for replacements.  That is for one person.  When you have a family of 5 that will add up pretty quickly.  I’m not sure I can give my Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush.  This feeling is almost ‘indescribable’

  1. I’ll have to try the toohbrush out. I’ve been using something similar in a different brand, but I’ve been on this ‘try different tooth brush’ mode for a while… lol

  2. I love the fact that it whitens teeth. Our dentist actually recommended electric toothbrush. We’ve not made the switch yet, but I know we should.

  3. I have a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush and it is the BEST!! My teeth have never felt more clean!! I can’t wait to use it again once I am done with my Invisalign…my teeth are too sensitive to use it right now.

  4. Looks and sounds like a great brush. I NEED to get a new one, my current one isn’t so great and I need something with a bit more power.

  5. I, too, had braces as an adult, right after I had my first child. It’s been years ago, but it was worth it. I’ve never used the Sonicare toothbrush, but I would love to try it. I have a birthday coming up . . .

  6. My husband would love to have something like this. I am going to need dental work on my back teeth. I grind due to chronic pain and my medications dry out my mouth. Those two are a deadly combination for teeth. I’m going to have to have several crowns sooner than later. 🙁

  7. I’ve had a few Sonicare toothbrushes and I like them because they do the brushing for me. When I brush myself I’m too rough and it’s not healthy for my gums.

  8. I asked for an electric toothbrush for Christmas and ended up not liking it! It was very hard on my gums. I wonder if it was just that specific toothbrush or all of them?

  9. Sounds like a great brush! I grind my teeth too, so I’ve been looking for solutions. I didn’t realize that braces would help! I’ve already been through wearing braces in my teens though, so I’m not sure I’m brave enough for a second go-round.

  10. I hate the dentist and every six months the hygienist goes to town on my plaque build up so it may be worth the cost just to keep the pain down lol

  11. I have wanted one of these toothbrushes for a really long time. My dentist suggested getting one the last time I saw him!
