Blissdom – First Canadian Social Media Conference for Women

Sharing is caring!

I am so excited to be in Toronto to participate in Canada’s first Conference for women in Social Media.  Blissdom comes to Canada from it’s Nashville, TN home to help Canadian women bloggers, twitter fan and Facebook aficianado come together at one time and one place to share the ‘love’.

Why is this important?  Social media can be very daunting to people.  They don’t understand why you would want to write (or rant) on a blog, why you would want to mention what you are eating on Twitter or where you are sipping coffee on Foursquare.

Today’s high speed technologically overpowering world brings communication to the masses right here, right now.  I always equate it to the fact that when I started working, we use to make copies of letters by inserting a carbon copy between two sheets of paper or sending a courier letter.  We have changed the way we communicate and send a message.  Carbon copies & couriers just don’t happen anymore, we have moved on from these archaic forms of communication.

What I am learning at Blissdom is this: (1) I don’t blog enough but when I blog it needs to be something I am passionate about and want people to read, discuss and engage in; (2) there are some INCREDIBLE bloggers in Canada – good, bad or ugly, there are blogs and bloggers that write, swear, rant and praise about anything and; (3) I am not crazy – social media is loved by others – A LOT.

So take some time to read blogs and posts and updates and tweets and view videos and listen to podcasts.  There is some thing interesting on social media for everyone AND it is NOT GOING AWAY – get use to it!
