How to work with me in 2024 and beyond

September 2020 – What a year it has been. With a world pandemic keeping us home, this has been a trying year for anyone working in the travel and tourism industry. Travel bloggers were not immune from taking a hit in 2020.

As we slowly and cautiously started to open up a bit more here in Canada, we find the second and thrid wave of COVID-19 hitting us hard. This does not mean that we can stop supporting our colleagues and destinations partners. I continue to write about trips taken in the past 5 years. Tourist sites rarely change and this provides room for discussing past excursions without encouraging full-on travel.

These are cautious times but my audience is still looking for information about future bucket list trips, background research or planning for 2021/22 and beyond.

If you are looking for media coverage locally or nationally within Canada, I will consider FAM trips (with social distancing precautions and COVID-19 protocols in place). For further details on how to work with me, please connect with me and see what sort of campaigns we can build together.

A little about me …

Primarily a travel blogger (with some lifestyle thrown in for fun), I was lucky enough to capture the travel bug as a child.  My father was determined, we see all of Canada.  After all, it was our responsibility as new Canadians.  So over a few summers, we camped from one side of the country to the other.  We visited the Maritimes and Quebec one summer. In our wood-panel station wagon, he drove across the prairies, crossed the Rockies and went as far as Victoria, BC the next.  These were epic trip in the 1970s which I still recall with fondness.

It created a love of camping which is perplexing to many who know me now.  They assume glamping is more of my speed but I enjoy a good campfire and a walk in the woods.  I grew up in Montreal, lived in Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton and now reside in sleepy London, Ontario.  The benefit is we are two hours from Toronto or Detroit, and 8 hours from Chicago to the west or Montreal to the east.  I attended McGill University and I traveled the 401 highway more times than I can count.

I have discovered beautiful places in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.  The only places I have not gone to are the three territories to the north.  They remain on my bucket list.

In Ontario, you can take a tour of the Phantom Five Marine National Park in Tobermory or take a walk around the Bruce Peninsula National Park. You can also see some great festivals like the Montreal Jazz Festival or the Quebec City Festival d’Ete – two outstanding musical festivals.  Maybe you want to have a walk through the woods or a climb up one of 40 Lighthouses in the Gaspesie.  Want to know where to buy the best bagels in Montreal?  You need only ask.

I travelled to Spain and France for #TBEXcostabrava with my eldest daughter.  It was an epic trip that took us to a cooking class in Barcelona, the beaches of the Costa Brava and the and a city bus tour of city of Light – Paris!  It is not a trip we are soon to forget and we are both anxious to get back to Spain.  The food was out of this world and the people so warm and inviting.

My TBEX Conference experience includes extensive work with the following DMO’s, tourism boards and CVBs:

  • Costa Brava
  • Huntsville, Alabama and Gulf Shores, AL
  • Killarney, Ireland in 2017 and
  • Finger Lake in New York
  • Tri-Cities, Washington and the Olympic Peninsula
  • Marbella and Jerez de la Frontera
  • Lafayette, LA and New Orleans
  • Kalamata and Olympia, Greece
  • Eau Claire, WI, Beloit, WI and Heritage Corridor, IL
