My lively daughter is finally home. I have been anticipating her arrival ever since I made her flight reservation earlier this fall.
I feel I can finally start celebrating the holiday season now. Christmas is just twelve short days away and I had been saving a very special surprise for her, for all of us really! I wanted to do something special this year. I wanted to try and make her visit home memorable and fun.
A few weeks ago I spotted on a friend’s Facebook page a quick post about this lovely Advent Calendar that she had started to share with her friends. It was pretty and colourful but nice. Really nice. It was not your typical Advent calendar with cheap chocolate and dollar store prizes. It has lovely high quality stationery and interesting ‘gifts’ that I knew my eldest would appreciate.
So I looked at the wedsite and decided to get one of my own. The Pomegranate Advent Calendar comes in three sizes: 24 day, 12 day and 8 day. With 31 carefully curated gifts to choose from – including holiday inspired crafts, thoughtful surprises and charitable ‘good deeds’ – there is sure to be something for everyone on your list.
The creater, Lisa Anne Gougeon of Pomegranate Advent Calendars has partnered with some amazing charities to create “good deed” gifts.
When you pick a good deed gift for your calendar, a portion of sales goes to that charity – directly supporting their work. Inside the calendar, each good deed gift is represented by an ornament with an accompanying card – a reminder of the good the gift served.
A giving gift speaks to me and I have to admit it is something that I would consider giving as a family gift. These calendars range from $55 -115 so are by no means inexpensive but the value that you recipe is worth it. By adding different components both intangible and intangible you are contributing to a greater good whether it is in aid of animals, summer camp for children with cancer, school supplies, sports programs or vaccines for intestinal worms.
The calendar is mailed to you and you the receive a beautiful boxed sealed with a rogain ribbon. Inside is a box with 12 perferated tabs that you open to reveal the surprise gift. Our calendar did not have a specific tab to open first or second or last. I let my daughter chose whichever she wanted.
You can see that the packaging is stunning and the paper is all high quality. Besides the cards, there was a short note letting you know what the gift is.
I like that each day can be different and you can choose from a great selection. I know she can hardly wait to see what she will get for the next 11 days. You can follow along on YouTube.
I have to day that although the beginning this was based on an Advent Calendar, this by no means should be considered seasonal. I can see this as a Valentines day or birthday gift. Wouldn’t you love to have one of these beautiful calendars 12 days or one week before your birthday or wedding anniversary? If it is customized to suit the receipient? Maybe you just want to cheer up a friend… this is a caring and thoughtful gift.
So consider his for some other occasion other than Christmas or Hanukkah. I know you will love them.
You could win one!
