The Healthy Shopper–The Coupon Book for Natural & Organic Products

Sharing is caring!

As many of my readers already know, I have been on a journey to eat more healthy food.  I started last year with the help of a Registered Holistic Nutritionist – Vanessa Case. She has taught me the virtues of eating local, reading labels and investing in natural and organic products. Yes, I said investing because at times, doing the right thing does not equate doing the affordable thing.
As a blogger, we are often asked to review products and share these reviews with our readers.  So when an offer to review The HealthyShopper.ca and the products that can be found on the website came across my desk… well, sign me up – I said.
First of all they sent a huge assortment of salad dressings by Simply Natural Organic Salad Dressings, San-J Gluten Free sauces (read my product review here), natural cleaning products including dish liquid by Ecover, laundry detergent by ZERO, toilet cleaner by Bay Breeze and finally, Natracare feminine products.  This was A LOT of territory to cover but it gave me a very good idea about what products could be purchased using the Healthy Shopper coupon book.
The Healthy Shopper coupon book provided discount coupon for vitamins and supplements, food and beverage or personal care or household products.  You can be either ordered on-line or you can pick it up at selected retailers.  I was disappointed to see that there were no retailers carrying the booklet in London so I had to order it on-line. We are getting so use to ordering things on-line that this should be a deterrent for buying the coupon book.
I was happy to sample some of the Simply Natural Organic Salad Dressings.

Simply Natural Organic Salad Dressings are produced from rich tasting premium certified organic ingredients grown and processed without hormones, pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, insecticides, genetic manipulation or antibacterial radiation.  SNOSD are certified by the USDA Organic and QAI (Quality Assurance International).

I don’t know about you but that sounds pretty darn good to me!
We had all sorts of flavours to choose from:

  • Vinaigrette with Sun Dried Tomatoes
  • Balsamic Vinaigrette (big favourite of mine)
  • Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette
  • Italian with Roasted Peppers Dressing
  • Creamy Caesar Dressing (huge hit with the family)
  • Honey Mustard Dressing
  • Sesame Ginger Dressing (hubby loved this one)
  • Raspberry Vinaigrette
  • Goddess Dressing (decadent….but yummy!)
  • Ranch Dressing
  • Roasted Red Pepper Vinaigrette (daughter loves peppers)

I had so many to chose from that I gave a few to Vanessa to enjoy (and review).  I also passed along some to my sister-in-law because she too is living a gluten-free life!
As part of my ‘new’ love for salads, I have found out that the more I like the salad dressing, the more likely I will be to eat a salad.  So I have used these dressing extensively to get me eating more salad, legumes, veggies and cooked vegetables.

For after school snacks, I have put out more veggies and dip (dressing) for the kids to snack on.  The girls also seem to love bringing some sauce for dipping in a small container and taking it for lunch.  A great coup for me because those cheddar cheese sandwiches were getting ‘boring’.  Losing interest in food and bringing it right back home is: (1) a waste of food, (2) a waste of my time shopping & preparing it and (3) a waste of money!
I have a few favourites that I encourage you to try:
HealthyShopper.ca_Simply Natural Organic Sauces_2_Product Review_DownshiftingPROI am a big fan of tuna.  I like combining Honey Mustard salad dressing, granny smith apples and a few sesame seeds a delicious combination.
The Honey Mustard salad dressing give the salad a sweetness that compliments the tartness of the apples and the saltiness of the tuna.

The great thing about some of these sauces is that you don’t just have to have them as salad dressing or dipping sauce.  You can also warm them up and add them to a simple pasta dish.  Here I paired the Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette with gluten free pasta, grape tomatoes and some fresh basil leaves.  Because the basil has enough flavour on its own, the Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette just added a ‘kick’ to the dish.

I have to tell you, I was already a big fan of Simply Natural Organic tomato sauces.  I had bought it at Costco a while back and I love the fresh, natural taste.  It was not too sweet (as I find other sauces). I am looking forward to tasting the line of Salsas that they have (especially the pineapple salsa and mango salsa… Winking smile wink, Winking smile wink).
I thoroughly enjoyed review the Simply Natural Organic Salad Dressings (my family loved it to).  They have converted us!
