Spring Forward – Daylight Savings Time means a change in time and a time for change.
Today I usually post a 4M – Margarita’s Manic Monday Minutes that gives you a task that should only take 15 – 20 minutes. This week, you have a bigger project to tackle because we had a time change this weekend. As time change happens twice a year, I think it’s a great opportunity to get certain larger cleaning and housekeeping tasks done. This is my Daylight Savings Check-up List:
Daylight Saving’s Time Checkup:
Check all smoke alarms. Make sure you have both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on every floor (including the basement). Check on fire extinguishers (one should be in the kitchen and garage).
Clean out wood fireplace. Check gas fireplace to ensure it is dust-free and clean.
Wipe down all baseboards, window sills, door jams and mouldings.
Wipe down all small appliances. Review what can come off the counter and stored in cupboards below.
Clean Humidifiers, floor vents and bathroom celing fans.
Clean all ceiling fans, light fixtures and light switches
Vacuum behind furniture. Move the bed away from the wall, behind armoires or wardrobes, behind night tables and sofas.
Deep clean carpets (rent a machine if you don’t already own one).
Change out your bedding if you have spring/summer bedding. Air out bedding before storing or send to cleaners for cleaning and then storing. Make sure to add cedar planks if needed
Rotate mattress and vacuum mattress, box spring and frame.
Call to have your Air Conditioner serviced.
Check your garage door is working properly. Change the battery to remote if needed
Schedule your pool opening.
