In the past few months Facebook has made it harder and harder for you to see the content that people put out.  That means that only a fraction of my  followers on Facebook see the interesting repartee and commentary that I have to offer.  They now want you to GET ACTIVE on Facebook to get interaction from your followers.

It is true that many of us ‘Like’ a number of Facebook pages but chances are you liked them for a reason and are interested in what they have to say.  Here are a few tips to make sure you see more of someone’s feed:

  1. When you ‘like’ my page, hover over the “Liked” button and you will see a pull-down tab that says “Get Notifications”  be sure and click that so that you will get my Facebook posts… this is very important.GetNotification_screenshot
  2. Frequent their page/profile as often as you can.  Frequent interaction and search tells Facebook that you are interested.
  3. “Comment” on a post, picture or link.  This is VERY important because it shows Facebook that you are interested in the content.  Adding your two cents to a comment also helps people see what you are interested in.  Sometimes you can discover very interesting things when others comment on a person’s post.
  4. If you don’t have a lot of time to comment at the very least ‘Like’ the post, picture or link.  This also tells Facebook that you are interested in what is going on.  It is also nice to know that I am truly sharing something that you are interested in.
  5. If you want more interaction on your personal/page or post, ask a question.  Use a direct question or fill in the blank (very popular).
  6. “Share”… don’t be just lurk all the time. Share some of your life’s special moments: birthdays, outings with the kids, a pic of you and your mom.  We all like to see how they are all doing.
  7. Provide interesting links.  There is nothing on-line this days that doesn’t have a twitter or Facebook button for you to automatically share on Facebook.  Some of the funniest parts of my day is when someone has shared a good story.
  8. Interact on someone’s business page(say a blogger you may already know Winking smile).  You maybe connected to a person on a personal profile but it’s the page that they want you to see.  Make it a habit of dropping by and interacting.
  9. Enter a contest.  When I have contests I don’t ever use your email address for ANYTHING else.  Don’t think that you are going to be spammed.  All bloggers use simple (but professional) contest widgets to manage a contest.  We do not provide the emails to the sponsors (unless stated – but I’ve never seen that yet).  So relax, we aren’t using your emails for anything more then verifying you are a WINNER.

  1. Really good tips. The reason for the social sites is to be social and interact with each other. I try to like or share or comment whenever I can. When I see something interesting on a blog or other website, especially recipes, I will save it and pin it to keep it for myself and also to show that I like the content. Thanks for the info.
