I have to say, two of the highlights for me with my children last year were the days that I spent at WeDay in Toronto with my oldest daughter and WeDay Kitchener/Waterloo region with my second child. They were both at a very impressionable age in their lives and it was nice to see how this one day made a different for them.

I asked my daughter to make a short video so you would have an idea of how it impacted her. Sometime the written word is just not enough. It’s not too short but it is all in her words. She came back a changed teen and I think that is the true intent of Me to We. Changing the lives of young people so they will change the lives of others.

My oldest daughter was so moved by the social justice work that is done by Free the Children that she saved up to go on a trip to Ecuador to help build a high school. She also chose to study International Development and Globalization because of her work there. Now that is the reason the Kielburger brothers work so hard to motivate today’s youth.
I am happy to see that last week the line up for the fall WeDay in Toronto and Vancouver were announced this week and I thought I would share them with you so you. The

Events like on this humongous scale could not be possible without the help of some awesome sponsors. So as Steven Colbert would say: a Tip of the Hat to TELUS and RBC Canada for their tremendous support. I am hoping to score a pass to the Kitchener/Waterloo Me to We to take my remaining child, my 13 year old son. If your children’s school is eligible to attend make sure and encourage them to go. It is really amazing to see.
During the 2013/2014 We Day Season:
7680 schools were involved in We Act — Over 2 million students reached by We Act
$11.2 million raised for local and global causes — 1.6 million pounds of food raised through We Scare Hunger
49,644 Hours volunteered by adult supporters at We Day — 34,524 pounds of non-perishable food were collected
1.4 million hours of silence logged for those denied their rights — 4 million hours volunteered for local and global causes
This is not a sponsored post, I was invited by the Me-to-We organization last year. All opinions are my own and come for the heart for this organization. I love Me to the We and Free the Children organizations and how they have impacted my kids.

I like these kinds of activities. I recently attended a similar event and I feel that I really have to do my own part. I’m glad that your daughter is exposed to these things at an early age. She sure is on the right track.
