My daughter is a proud member of the LVC U15 Ignite team. This is her second year with London Volleyball Club. She started competitive volleyball last year and has never looked back.

LVC Fire – U14 Ignite Team (2012-2013) – U14 Silver Medalist OVA Championships 2013
It was a great overall team experience for her and the club has continued to grow and prosper in London. This year it is fielding four U15 teams. That is an incredible amount of girls getting involved in competitive volleyball in this city. There are many reasons we love being part of the LVC family but its commitment to helping out in the community is one of the main reasons.
Our daughter loves working with young kids and one of her favourite parts of being a part of LVC is getting to help out with the little kids that are part of the LVC Timbits Volleyball programs. You often see Tim Hortons sponsoring free swim days during the summer or free skate days in the winter but did you know that they support other local sports teams too? Besides hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams you can participate in Timbits Volleyball too!
From the website:
“LVC’s Timbits Volleyball is a learn-to-play volleyball program for girls and boys aged 5-9. This grassroots volleyball program is the first step in a player’s volleyball career with an emphasis on the FUNdamentals of the game, stressing the importance of FUN in a non-competitive environment.”
Remember this is a fun way to introduce kids to volleyball. I wish they had this when my kids were younger. I do think that having the team members volunteer and work with the kids helps them develop life long skills: teamwork, teaching, community service & work experience. As an added benefit to the teenagers, they will be able to submit their volunteer hours to their schools for the mandatory 40 community service hours that they need to graduate. BONUS.
Make sure to consider volleyball as a winter sport… you don’t always have to be skiing or skating to stay active during the winter (not that there is anything wrong with those sports… its just nice to have options).
The LVC programs start up the third Sunday in October and are held at Saunders Secondary School (on Viscount and Wonderland Rd). There are two different times and two sessions: either 9:30 or 10:30 start. The first session starts Sunday Oct. 20th – Dec. 15, 2013 and the second session begins Sunday, January 19th – March 9th, 2014.
Be sure and visit the London Volleyball Club Website for further information and registration.
This is not a sponsored post. I was not compensated for this post it was simply written to inform Londoners of what great programs you can find in the city. All opinions are my own. Timbits Volleyball pictures is from the LVC website.
