I have always wanted a pool but our backyard is not conducive to having one unless I get a $20,000 retaining wall. Well that is not going to happen since I have to get three children to university or college. My friend has opened up the pool and I have vowed to make myself a poolside fixture. This does not mean I will be an unwanted guest as you know that you have to be appreciative. That means that I am hoping for invites to the cottage, the pool or the beach. Nothing says summer like playing in the water on a hot summer’s day. All you need is some coolers, party snacks and a new GoPro camera for capturing sweet family fun and hilarity! - Bring snacks. If there is one thing that kids get before and after playing in the water is HUNGRY. It should be no problem to bring both healthy and guilty snacks. So pick up an extra bag of chips, cut up some oranges or bring along some grapes. Bringing freezies is also a great snack option.
- Bring something to drink. Whether is a cooler, a bottle of wine or some beer for the adults or juice boxes for the kids, make sure there is plenty to drink. It is easy to get dehydrated with all that pool fun. Also bring non-alcoholic drinks if you are the one driving home. Be safe after all.
- Bring each child their own towel and keep a few extra in the car. Don’t expect your hostess to shell out dry clean towels just because you are coming over. The extra towels are just in case your kids get carried away and soak their towels. Like that has never happened before, right?
- Bring the hostess a nice gift. It does not always have to be big and it does not always have to happen but every once in a while (if you go over often), be sure to show your thanks for your friend hosting you and your nutty kids for the afternoon. Get her a coffee gift card or a mani-pedi at a local spa. Something just for her to say Thank you.
- Lastly, bring your Go Pro. Make sure to capture all that fun easily and quickly. The days of being careful because you are by the pool are over. Get a Go Pro for the fun of it.
