With Father’s Day quickly approaching I figured many of you are struggling with ideas on what to get Dear Old Dad.  Just like Moms, Dads like to get thoughtful gifts for Father’s Day.  Unlike Moms giving dad an appliance (or in his language a ‘tool’) is a great idea.  Flowers? Chocolate? A day at the Spa? Not so much.

Here are my top six ideas on what every dad may want for Father’s Day to keep him ‘Organized’:

  1. An organized garage: with cabinets, a work table and storage for all those ‘’power”  tools..You can hide the clutter but still have everything easily accessible.  Having the hand tools close at hand is pretty important to keeping things organized.

  2. Not enough room on the walls or on the floor…NO PROBLEM. Get him hanging shelves that can be suspended from the ceiling.  This provides extra space for those Christmas decorations that he hates but knows his loving wife can’t live without *cough.

Having the ability to hang the bikes keeps them out out of the way in the winter but accessible enough during the summer.  Using versatile “S” hooks lets you also hang awkward items like golf clubs, strollers and bicycle carts.

  3. If he doesn’t have enough room in the garage, why not just have a shed built to keep his power mower or snow blower.  Living in the snow belt means that we get an awful lot of snow.  Those useful but bulky snow blower can take up a lot of precious room in your garage during the summer months.  Send it to the SHED for a vacation.

Over the top?… I think not… why shouldn’t your backyard look stylish.  He may not want the fancy trees and shrubs but I am certain, he would love to house his stuff in this baby.  You certainly don’t have to look at an eyesore built out of scrap wood and mismatched shingles just to keep him happy.

  4. Give him somewhere to store all his sports equipment.  There is no need to have hockey bags thrown downstairs (to stink up your whole basement).  Maybe he needs to be able to grab his softball glove and favourite bat before he heads out to the field.  Are his soccer cleats easy to find?  When everything has a home, this is never an issue.  Just like having an organized mudroom, having a place for his sports gear is an absolute must.

  5. As much as you hinted when you gave him the 120GB iPod to store all his favourite ‘groovy tunes’ he still insists that he has to keep all those CDs.  So make a tiny, o.k. not really tiny, investment in CD (DVD, book) storage units.  These units slide out easily and let him have easy access.  So when you tell him you are in the ‘mood’ for some Barry White or a little Michael Buble, he can pull it out in a flash.

  6. You think that maybe he might need to store these CDs and DVDs in a room of his own.  Why not break the bank and get him his very own: MAN CAVE? Why have one TV when you can have five?  Like I said in the title of this post… GO BIG OR GO HOME.

I know there is no limit to what you would do for your man.  For the father of your children.  For your sweetheart.  So this Father’s Day, find what organizing problem needs a solution and make him happy.  P.S. when you win the lottery to be able to afford all these cool #organizing ideas, can you write me a small cheque so I can send my kid to college, will ya?

Happy Father’s Day

  1. Wow I love all these ideas. My hubby would be in his glory for that garage organization set-up….it is amazing!

  2. Just about the most typical difficulties challenged through shed entrepreneurs really are a busted spring, destroyed or even decaying parts, nicks producing rubbing, erratic movements, stuffed opener, noisy disturbance, jerking moves and so forth. Garage doorway business services may correct all of these typical difficulties in no time read more.

  3. Along with giving him a place to stash the stinky sports equipment, I’d add, give him a large, electric fan too so the stuff actually dries quickly. You are right about the smell-factor. ICK!

  4. All great ideas, but I love the slide out book storage. We can definitely use that one. I think I can only dream though that one day the garage looks like the first photo…sigh…

  5. Ok need the shed and the garage setup please to start. Once he is done with that I bet he would love a mancave entertainment set up like that. Not sure we would ever see him again. He would probably set up his cave in the shed or garage LOL I personally love the bike hangers We NEED that at our house!

    • Honestly, I don’t think I would ever see my hubby if we had a man cave downstairs. I must admit with the world cup starting today, I will not be getting much TV time this month.

      Thanks for dropping by Cathy!
