Enjoy #MemorialCup #FanFest this week in #LdnOnt–Family Fun

Sharing is caring!

My husband called me from the office to remind me that the Budweiser Clydesdale horse to kick off the Memorial Cup #Fanfest.  MasterCard Memorial Cup has come back to London, Ontario it is nice to see that the organizers have really stepped it up to create a great family friendly event.  You can get a full schedule here.

I decided to take my two teen daughters and their friends for a few hours on opening night of the round robin tournament.  We headed to the Budweiser Gardens where the London Nights, Val d’Or Foreurs, Guelph Storm and Edmonton Oil Kings will play for the next week in a round-robin tournament.  The Memorial Cup is the culmination of the Junior Hockey seasons when the OHL, WHL and QJMHL and the host team compete for the coveted Cup.  It is Junior Hockey at its best.

This year Budweiser Gardens and the City of London are hosting this event and there is plenty for the kids to do:

Attend the daily events at #Fanfest.  Located at Budweiser Gardens and adjacent to Covent Garden Market.  There are plenty of fun activities for the kids. Play mini-sticks, for the little kids play in a small blow-up rink, for the older ones, play on at the PlayStation booth.

Be a goalie:  You can practice your virtual goal skills or have a real life experience with a net, stick & shots taken right at you.  Or maybe you want to test the speed of your slap shot.  Test your shooting skills by hitting the different it up boxes and do it in record time.

Maybe you want to take a picture with a mascot or furry friend.

Maybe you can win tickets to see a Memorial Cup Hockey Game as my DD and her friend did thanks to sponsor Subway!

Make sure to check out the Hockey Hall of Fame exhibition.  On Monday and Tuesday from 4 – 7:30 pm you can see THE Memorial cup.

I was pretty impressed to see the big trophies that the NHL players get:

The Hart Trophy (MVP) :

The Maurice `Rocket`Richard Trophy (highest scorer):

The Vezina Trophy (Goalkeeper):

You can see vintage uniforms and jerseys.  I`ve just taken a few pictures of the trophies but there had to be over 20 trophies on display.   There is always something new and interesting to learn about our national sport.

The MasterCard Memorial Cup also includes an entertainment aspect.  There have been concerts and to say the least the Budweiser Beer Tent has been a magnet to many this week.  Performers include: Metro4, DJ Zoltan,The Sheridan Band, Thunderstruck, Soul Sausage, Sweet Leaf Garrett, The Reklaws, Hotel California, Doug Varty Band, Tim E & The Yes Men, The Rizdales, KC Roberts & The Live Revolution, Doghouse Rose, Hot Rocks, DJ Melting Man, Marcellus Wallace, The Wheat Kings, one of Canada’s best multi gold rock bands, The Trews, and Juno winning country artist Brett Kissel. Enjoy live bands and entertainment for the whole week.  You can get a highlights here.

Once again, I have to give credit to the Mastercard Memorial Cup Fanfest organizers.  They have a bit of something for everyone and the kids had a great time.  So much so that one of them said: the next time they have this, don`t forget to bring me again…  Happy to do it…
