As we we quickly approach March Break, it is always a good idea to make some plans on what to do if you are staying home instead of travelling. We tend to stay at home because we don’t enjoy the crowds and line ups that usually come with March Break.

We do, however, like to catch up on things that we could not fit into the calendar during the year. So this year, my oldest is taking her Bronze Medallion course (the first in a series to become a lifeguard and swimming instructor). I loved being a swim teacher and I am so glad that my daughter has decided to do this!

Our second daughter, is taking skiing lessons over March Break. Since she has been sooooo busy trying out for various soccer teams, she has not had the time to take lessons until now. That is not to say that she was not skiing… she was loving all this snow, she just wanted to take some lessons to improve her skills. I wish I was that fearless on a ski hill!

Our son is scheduled to take some private skating lessons. Not one to enjoy skating or any sport to be honest, we decided he should try to conquor that fear and get more proficient on skates.

Many of our friends go away during March Break so I though that I would share with you a really great blog post written by a networking friend of mine, Fred Ihnatiuk from YYZ Travel.  He has made some really great suggestion on family travel during the March Break:

  1. Write up consent forms if you are crossing the boarder.
  2. Make sure to pack important items: prescriptions, i.d. tags, familiar cold remedies.
  3. If you get to your resort early, pack swim-wear to take advantage of the recreational facilities.
  4. Pack snacks because airport food tends to be expensive.
  5. Leave yourselves plenty of time…
