I have to admit, I am a planner. I like calendars, I like lists, I like looking to the future and planning it now so I can enjoy it later. I have already started making plans for Canadian Thanksgiving (which is in early October – for those American/International readers of mine). I have already bought the train ticket for when my daughter gets home from university. I plan ahead so much that I have already made a dentist and doctor’s appointment for her while she is visiting. She may not be as excited about those plans but it has to be done. Yes, I am a planner.
So it should not surprise you to know that I have considered plans for the Christmas holidays and also for her reading week in February. It is never to early to set aside those train or plane tickets. You have to start thinking about who is going to be where. Who is hosting which holiday and what I will be cooling. Did I mention I am a planner???
Forty-one days until she gets home. Forty-two days until Canadian Thanksgiving. Can you tell I’m anxious to get her home for the holidays?
I want to make sure that the time that she spends with us is quality time. I want the holidays to be special, now that she is not with us on a daily basis. So planning helps me keep on top of things and also helps me know when I have to ramp up for a busy week or start prepping for the holiday season. Holidays are a hectic time for everyone not only for buying gifts but also for cooking and entertaining in the days leading up to and including the holidays. I have to say, nothing makes cooking easier than cooking with the latest appliance technology including induction cooking that enables you to boil water in less than two minutes like the Frigidaire FGIF3061NF. The best part is that induction reduces clean up time because spills don’t burn on. If you know anything about me, you know that I can be a messy cook. 
I’ve been pursuing the Best Buy website and looking at ways that I can make my #holidayprep time easier. I have been looking at both the Frigidaire and Whirlpool ranges. I like that the Frigidaire one also includes a convection oven which circulates the air in the oven for quicker baking time. When we lived in Edmonton (15 years ago), we had a convection oven and I loved it. I cooked everything faster (saving on electricity) and more evenly (because of the fan distributing the heat). One of my biggest regrets was agreeing to leave that awesome oven as part of the sale of the house.
Another great innovation within cooking are double ovens that let you cook two dishes at two different temperatures at once like the Whirlpool WGG555S0BS but still fits within the space of a standard range. The upside to leaving that oven is getting a dual oven years later. But there are so many new innovations in technology these days and I know that all of this technology will allow me to get the food the way I want it prepared and saves me time. Having a dual oven means that she will be able to bake cupcakes, while I make a casserole – all at the same time using different heat levels.
