Ok, Boomer, where to next? With low budget airlines competing for your hard earned money, why not consider the newest kid on the block – Flair Airline? What about an unlimited air pass for three months for only $699 CDN? What? You got my attention Flair Airlines!

This week the budget airline announced a “Go Travel Pass” that makes travel easier with unlimited flights anywhere they fly from February 13th- May 13th, 2020. The caveat, its main routes are in western Canada .

Go Travel Passes are a prepaid package of unlimited flights which can be managed online with ease. There are two possible options:

(1). $699 provides unlimited travel for 3 consecutive months from February 13-May 13, 2020. With NO black out dates and includes one checked bag per flight. You must book 48 hours in advance.

(2) $499 provides you unlimited travel for 3 consecutive months. Excluding Friday and Sunday travel and there are blackout dates which include: February 14th – 17th, March 20th – 30th, and April 10th – 13th, 2020. Thankfuly, March Break in most of Ontario is March 16-19.

Reservations are made online but note that each leg has applicable taxes which must be paid, it’s the base airfare that is unlimited.

Cities covered by Flair Airline are Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Kelowna and Winnipeg. It’s only eastern hub is Toronto.

A sample return flight between Toronto to Vancouver would be taxes $122.26. I chose the third week in February for a one week trip. I selected the cheapest fair (extending the trip from 5 to 7 days).
As you can see the breakdown of airport taxes, security fees plus government taxes bring the total to over $120.

If you fly frequently between YYZ and YVR you are going to save some money. If blackout dates and no weekend departure, impact your travel plans, you may want to jump on the $499 option.

Take note, certain restrictions apply to bookings using the pass:
– Online changes can be made up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled time of departure.
– Changes within 48 hours are subject to the change fee of $125 per direction plus taxes.
– Date and route changes are subject to availability.
– The new flight date must be before May 13th, 2020 when the pass expires. If you cannot use the original flight within the following 90 days, the original payment will not be refunded or credited to future travel.

I think this is a great deal if you live in Western Canada and you are a frequent traveler to these destination but otherwise the window to use the pass is just not long enough. It may be unlimited travel but there are still taxes and fees to pay.

I have friends and family in Edmonton and Vancouver who could benefit. Spring comes early to Vancouver maybe it’s time to try and see the cherry blossoms on Taylor Way this spring…
