Today is International Women’s Day and I wanted to go ahead an honour some of the fantastic women in my life. This list is a short list and I am bound to forget people but I wanted to put out this post to say:
Thank you… Thank you for being part of my life… Thank you for supporting me… Thank you for bringing good things, making me laugh and drinking with me on occasion.
Here Goes (in no particular order):
International Women’s Day
To my mother – You are my rock. Without you in my life I would have less soup, I would dress badly and I would be a really bad mom, wife, woman. Even at my age, you are still my mother.
To my mother-in-law – You have taught me grace and patience and to appreciate the beauty of simplicity and nature. Your love of crafting, art and now drawing is truly amazing. Lastly, I love that you taught my husband how to do the laundry when he was 16 years old. He is the best husband ever because you did such a great job as a mother.
You ar both the OG and am happy to celebrate International Women’s Day.
To my Sister – you have taught me how to fight the fight. Conquering Leukemia not once but TWICE only show how strong you really are. We are complete opposits but there are time we are clearly related. We often think about how we were brought up. Last summer we traveled together to Spain.
To my daughters and nieces – you are the women of tomorrow and you need to find out what that means to you. Stand proud, be brave and don’t shy away from a challenge. You are our future and I know you will do us proud.
To Nicole – for giving my son courage and confidence be the person he needs to be and how to deal with being on the Autism Spectrum.
Note: This post was originally published 10 years ago but I still appreciate this wonderful educator.
To all my blogging friends that make me a better blogger and show me that being a ‘professional blogger’ is what I do. I am speaking to You: Paula, Ann, Mary, Becky, Laura, Aeryn, Sandy, Merry… so many of you.
To my book club. You challenge me by making me read books I may not have otherwise chosen. Your varied life experiences make every book interesting as you look at it through your particular filter. To continuing our really fun monthly Monday night discussions.
My last shout out on International’s Women Day goes to Miss Representation . It is an organization that brings forward the plight of women throughout the world but also holds media accountable for the negative portrayal of women in media. It is the message that we are giving our girls and it needs to be the right one.
