I want to say I am a great big fan of Monster trucks.  I want to say that but I cannot.

Why?

Because I have never been.

Why?

Because my husband and my son always get tickets for themselves and always seem to forget that there are others in our family that might want to go and see this great show.  So I have to say my family are big fans.  The curious thing is that we had not taken our son to this for years because being on the Autism spectrum he has a high level of sensitivity to loud noise.  Going to a monster truck event seemed counter-intuitive.  Even with protective headphones we were unsure that this was going to work.

WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

There is no way around it.  Boys like trucks. Big trucks. Noisy trucks. Really Big Trucks.  I had failed to see that the attraction to the trucks would be more distracting than the actual loud noise produced by the trucks.  When my husband finally took him we ponied up for the Pit Pass just so he could see the trucks up close and personal.  We wanted him to have that special experience just in case he bailed out when the noise was too loud.

WHO KNEW HE WOULD LOVE IT SO MUCH?

It has now become an annual father-son tradition to go see the Maple Leaf Monster Jam show every time it comes to the Budweiser Gardens here in London.  I don’t bother asking if I can go along. It has become a tradition to go with his father.  Last year it was another dad and  his son (also with special requirements).  They all had a wonderful time and I’m pretty sure, they are planning on going again this year.

  1. They are a lot of fun! Ainsley and Jim are often in there getting up close and personal with the loud trucks too. (which is equally hysterical because loud noises are same for Ainsley.)

  2. We’ve never been to a Monster Truck show, but I hear they are fantastic & think Miss R would really enjoy watching everything that happens.

  3. Monster jam shows are always such a blast! It’s really exciting to get to see all the stunts that they do. My two year old really enjoyed the show in Toronto 🙂
