I love just about anything Martha Stewart… I always have and I always will. There I said it… I am a devotee. I have followed Martha since she was on a local t.v. station in New England when I was growing up in Montreal. She had a small following back then, we are talking the 1980’s here people, before she became ‘a good thing’.
I recently received a package from Sara at Avery Dennison Canada and it had a fantastic assortment of chalkboard labels that I fell in love with when I saw her at the Professional Organizers in Canada National conference in November. I got to see first had the Martha Stewart Home Office line developed with Avery. It is exclusively at STAPLES Canada (and STAPLES US).
To be clear, there are many, many items in this product line (file folder, spice, jar, envelope and box labels) but the ones I am going to review are the chalkboard labels that I know are available in Canada.
The chalkboard line of labels are available in different sizes and shapes. (2 1/2” x 3 3/4”, 3 3/4”x 5 3/16”).They stick to most any surface, are removable without leaving any residue, have erasable surfaces and are PVC-free.
I also like using them on my pantry bins. These are containers that hold snacks and supplies and sit on shelves. My 19th century cupboard may have been great for turn of the century bulky items but in my modern day kitchen, I needed to keep things organized. These bins where further defined by the label… so there is no mistaking what is inside. You may think this is overkill but when the kids are putting their lunches together in the morning, it is pretty helpful.
There are many uses for these labels: large Rubbermaid storage bins, toy chests, clear shoe boxes, jars or canisters and shelves. I like the idea of having them on the wall above hooks in a mud room or in a child’s room. They work because you can easily erase them if the need changes. If you wanted it to be more permanent, I am sure you could use a metallic marker (a Sharpie would do the trick).
I highly recommend the Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery labels. They are durable, stylish and easy to re-position. You can buy them exclusively at STAPLES in Canada (and the US).
