We are going to a cottage for vacation and there will be seven of us.  That is: seven breakfasts and seven dinners.  We will also need supplies for lunches and snacks.  It seems that when you are outdoors walking, hiking, swimming and just laying about you tend to get very hungry.  We have a variety of tastes here but for the most part, we can make one dedicated meal everyone will love. It’s all about great meals for cottage life.

When we go away to the cottage, I like to ensure that we have all the basics so I bring condiments, paper napkins, paper plates, plastic drinking glasses and extra bottled water. We have gotten used to using paper plates to keep the dishes light.  All can be recycled so no need to worry.

Meal prep for the cottage also means making life easier so making sauces in advance or marinating items is always easier. Easy to grab snacks and lots and lots of re-usable water bottles.

There are always local grocery stores and lovely vegetable stands.  Buying local fruits and vegetables (especially corn at this time of year) make the whole cottage thing fantastic.  I don’t know about you but a true cottage experience would not be possible without making smores.  We have all the ingredients to make them but I also found this really neat package from President’s Choice for smores.  I can hardly wait to sit by the campfire and toast some marshmallows, get a piece of chocolate and smush it all together between two graham crackers… Yummy.

  1. I am kind of snort laughing thinking of you eating smores by the campfire. Oh boy. Well I enjoy pork tenderloin as well and kale salad so I will be over on that particular day. M’Kay?
