Who doesn’t love shopping?
Who doesn’t love shoes?
Who doesn’t love shopping for shoes in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary?
If you said I hate shopping and I hate shopping for shoes then you need to be reading another blog… seriously… go read a blog about banking or how to repair your car. This blog is allllll about travel, shopping and shoes (o.k. occasionally about shoes) but shopping for sure… and travel.
I had to blog about my recent trip to Toronto’s Queens Street West. I went with my daughter and her friend (they were going to see a show). Since it was a Monday and it would end up being a late night, I asked my husband to chauffeur us around. Not a lot of fun for him but the walk around Queen Street West made it fun. Who knew he would enjoy walking into so many vintage stores.
As we walked down this most excellent street I came across a store that I have often heard about and read about but had not yet visited: Gravity Pope. This is both a clothing store and a shoe store.

On our visit, I just stayed on the first floor where all the shoes were. I have to say, it has been a long time since I visited a shoe store that I absolutely loved every pair of shoes. Really, can you have too many shoes?
Here are the highlights:
There is a very small section of children’s shoes but what they had were A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. There were mini Convers and Doc Martin Shoes. I took a picture of the different colours and varieties but they were so much better in person.
I have to say, I fell in love with the display cases, shelving units and marble tables that the shoes were laid out on. How beautiful is it to pair shoes with antiques? The effects were enticing. If you look below you can see this lovely antique stand. I am not sure what it was suppose to hold originally but placing the modern sporty shoes on top just looked great… Very eclectic.
The stairway to the second level was just as stunning. Who wouldn’t want to meander around for an hour in this store. It had a lovely esthetic and was inviting and enticed you to look (and shop I have to say).
Very easy to do, I might add.
Because the shoes are laid out on large tables, I thought it gave you a better idea of what they had to offer. I have only ever seen this done before at a high, high end department store in Montreal, I thought it was a great way to display the shoes.

I have to say, I loved the patten leather men’s shoes. I wish you could wear them all the time (there is always at least 2 pairs of patten leather shoes in my closet… at least… I love them so much). BTW, if you are looking for Hunter Boots, look no further, I was amazed at the selection.
If you are in Toronto on Queen Street near Bathurst, make sure to drop by Gravity Pope but make sure to take the time to browse there are a lot of gems to see.

The decor there is lovely. Looks like a fun place to shop
I don’t have a passion for shopping generally speaking. I love shoes but have a hard time finding precisely what I want. What a fun space and look at all the cute youth shoes and runners.
Love shoe shopping! I don’t do it nearly often enough. I am sure my husband would say otherwise though. Ha!
