The Queensbury Hotel
It was the pillows. No, it was the huge painting in the lobby – The Last of the Mohicans. Maybe it was the wine bar fridge in our room or the delicious welcome treats. It’s hard to pin down what captured my attention when I first visited The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, New York. All I know it was the perfect combination of a historic luxury hotel in New York State in a small-town setting.

Glens Falls, NY 12801
Only 25 minutes north of Saratoga Springs is the quaint town of Glens Falls, The Queensbury Hotel is a property you won’t want to miss. Established in 1926 it holds a designation of a Historic Hotel of America. The lumber industry in the Adirondacks made many small fortunes.

Glens Falls is one of those towns that prospered because of the vast hardwood forests of New York State. One of lumber industry’s legacies is The Queensbury Hotel. Built with with support of the business establishment to become a centre of business and community. If you are a heritage and cultural traveller, looking for a girl’s getaway or a romantic weekend seeker, this is the luxury hotel in New York State is for you.
The Queensbury Hotel has been renovating its hotel rooms and they are nothing short of spectacular. They are spacious with fancy wine bar mini-fridges, coffee makers and large screen HDTVs. Our room had a large walk-in closet, modern furniture and well-appointed bathrooms. In today’s times of shrinking room footage, you will love how spacious these rooms are.

We enjoyed our hearty breakfast in Park 26 restaurant located off the recently renovated main lobby. Park 26 features locally inspired, modern American cuisine served in a comfortable but elegant setting. When you stay at a luxury hotel in New York, goodfood is important. Breakfast and lunch are served daily and dinner is now served Wednesday – Saturday. Plus, enjoy piano and jazz entertainment Thursday-Saturday nights in the lobby before or after dinner!
Insider’s Tip: You will love the location of this hotel as it sits across the street from City Park and is a short walk to great restaurants and theatre. During the summer months be sure and look out for music concerts in the City Park located directly across from the hotel.
I will also encourage a visit to the amazing Hyde Collection. A private museum which has some exceptional pieces of art including El Greco, Rembrandt and Renoir. Housed in a complex of mansions, the story behind the location is just as interesting as the collection. This really is a gem and part of the Great Museums NOT in New York City.

After you’ve spent the day at the museum, have a swim in the hotel’s pool and hot tub. Well lit with a large peaked skylight, it’s a great place to have the kids wind down. The hotel has spa services so be sure and ask at the front desk for availability. I always look for amenities suited for people with disabilities and I was happy to see accommodations in the pool. The pool is wheelchair accessible.

Another added bonus is the adjacent pub – Fenimore’s – with plenty of local beers on tap and the occasional musical guest. (Note: Currently, during covid-19 restrictions, you can order meals online for pickup). You can also enjoy a drink on their outdoor terrace which has heaters at the ready should you feel chilly.

The Queensbury Hotel
I cannot say enough about this hotel. The staff was wonderful and ourstay was exceptional. I would love to return and have dinner at Park 26 and listen to some jazz at Fenimore’s pub.
I highly recommend a stay at this luxury hotel in New York You will not do better than The Queensbury Hotel. You can see a video of this review here.

Disclosure: I was a guest of hotel as part of a FAM (press trip). Glens Falls was one of a handful of stops in the Adirondack and Upper New York State region. They partnered with TBEX Finger Lakes to show travel bloggers, freelancers and photographers this spectacular region. No other compensation was received and all opinion are my own.
