Once someone knows I am a blogger, one of the first questions I get is do you know a good blog about [travel], [humour], [parenting] and of course [organizing]. There are thousands of blogs. You can read about just about anything that you want. Need tips on what electronic gadgets to buy? Try Aerynn Lynne’s Geek with Style. Want help to find about health posts with special needs teen? You may want to peruse Thrifty Momma’s Tips. Paula writes on a wide variety of topics. Or maybe you’re interested in a road trip to Prince Edward County in Ontario. No better blogger than Sandi Allen from Canadian Blog House to help you find the perfect spot. I’m a bit bias towards these three ladies as I recently travel with them to Florida but they are fine examples of what bloggers bring to the table. All are from three different Ontario cities, we are all different ages and have grown up in different cities. The thing is, they have interesting perspectives on life, family and travel.
As the year comes to a close, I have met new bloggers this year and I’ve started reading their blogs religiously. I also have included favourites that I have read for years. Always interesting, often funny, you can never go wrong dropping by and reading their blogs. Be sure and follow them on their social profiles to see what is new #ontheblog (I have included direct links to the blogs make it easier). If you want, feel free to subscribe. You can also find more bloggers on my very popular Canadian Blogs to Follow on Pinterest. Constantly updated with interesting content be sure and drop by and pin your favourite posts.

I met Sandy years ago in a bloggers group and have gotten to know her more over the years. This year we took our friendship to another level by traveling to Florida together for a girls getaway. I recently met Hannah for the first time in Ireland when I brazenly came up to fellow Canadian blogger and asked: “Do you happen to know Hannah Logan?” She happened to be sitting right next to her. The other blogger proceed to get a drink at the bar while mingling with other bloggers at the conference but Hannah was more than happy to chat and tell me more about herself and her blog. From that first conversation, I was hooked! We met up again on a Press trip to Melbourne, Florida and we’ve become fast friends ever since. I find her funny, irreverent, fearless, resourceful and a lot of fun! She is an Ottawa-based freelance writer and self-described wannabe Indiana Jones. She shares her (mis)adventures, tips, and advice on her travel blog, Eat Sleep Breathe Travel.

Becky is another new blogger to me, even though we’ve been in a group together for a while, I finally met her in person on the Press Trip to Florida (I tell you with 35 of us there were plenty of new people to meet). I find Becky refreshing and full of energy. A young mom of two she has been blogging for almost 10 years already! She writes about recipes, family activities and family travel (whoo hoo) with the occasional random thoughts about parenting and living life to the fullest. She also works with small business owners creating digital content. She’s a busy woman!

I first met Kerrie when we both attended a blogging conference in New York City. She is pretty shy and quite but is a blogging powerhouse – no doubt about it! She has the cutest twin boys and makes the yummiest food. One of my favourite videos is her campfire breakfast skillet video… you gotta see it. Since I have Family Food and Travel is centred around Kerrie Mendoza and her twin boys. It features recipes, tips, product reviews and travel. Kerrie has traveled to over 30 countries and loves to make recipes that are easy, delicious and family favourites.

I met Tammy at a blogger conference years ago. I’m not 100% sure when we became friends but I know it was solidified when I spent some time at Pioneer Camp in the Muskokas with her and her Prince of a husband and those wonderful kids. Most recently we traveled to Melbourne Florida together on a press trip (there’s that trip again). We had a lovely time chatting and catching up. I love her blog because she talks about her great kids and a solid (and very full) family life. I hope to travel with her again. We sort of circle around each other’s world and we need to meet hang out more! When Tammy and her family aren’t dividing between extracurricular activities, renovating their country dream home, you’ll find them discovering mindful moments together. Chasing their next outdoor adventure and planning their next vacation to explore and discover. Tammy wears kindness and positive thinking on her shoulders with an entrepreneur mind and strives to reach for the stars. Health, fitness, nature, family and lots of snuggles are an essential start of every day.

Christy Laverty manages A Little Bright Spot. I met Christy years ago when I was attending my first Blogger conference in Toronto. She was a speaker and I was a newbie. We chatted over dinner. Ironically, we became friends a few years later but we both reflect back on how nice it was to meet. Christy has mastered Facebook Live like a boss and can be found at least once a week speaking about media and PR. This is a sweet site for all things happy. She is a mother and wife and a writer and this blog is a way to share any and all things that bring joy and happiness to her life. Hope it becomes Your Little Bright Spot on the internet too!

I just adore Merry. She is an American living in Calgary but right now she is on an epic road trip with her son in their little Shasta Airflyte Reissue camper Daisy. The fact that she named her camper is reason enough to follow this gal. It is non-stop entertainment following her journey from the purchase of this awesome retro camper to the road trip banter. While not hauling the camper around, she writes about a variety of topics (recipes, home schooling, reviews) and she’s a great cook to-boot.
Deb Balino is the proud mama of a little girl who she refers to as “Smallie” – a 6 year old who marches to the beat of her own drum when it comes to style. Deb loves sharing creative ideas and her obsession with themes from kid’s parties to family Halloween ideas. She is a recent import from Los Angeles where she and her husband George began her business, but now lives in the beautiful west coast of Canada. She is the owner of Sass & Smalls – a blog about the everyday musings of a work-at–home mama, bringing the big city sass to the island – living minimally, stylishly, and creatively, while navigating through the beautiful chaos of parenting. Deb also shares her experience openly with infertility, still birth, and recurrent loss, and hopes that her posts will provide a safe place for families of loss and will inadvertently help end the stigma associated to this topic.

Someone kindly pointed out that I should be placing DownshiftingPRO on this list too! So with a bit of coaxing, I will add the blog just in case you need a reminder, let me add my social media channels so you can read about my adventures in Ireland, NYC or Vancouver. There are also many tips on organizing (from my previous life as a professional organizer) and some family recipes. You will, however, find the voices of my children who also contribute to the blog. Whether a game or play review from my son or travels with my eldest daughter or reviews from my middle child. All can be found on DownshiftingPRO.com.
As you read through this list of amazing Canadian bloggers, I’m sure you seen a theme in this post. It is filled with people who are new to me and others that have been friends for years. There are many reasons why we are friends but one connecting thread is I love to read their rants, reviews and interesting tales at home and on the road. All have interesting voices in the digital world that I live and work in. Take the time to read some of these blogs. I’m sure they will feel like friends to you too in a short time.
I will be updating this list periodically. There are so many bloggers to tell you about that I will likely just keep adding and adding. I will be publishing a list of Travel Bloggers next month. Some are lifestyle and travel and some are exclusively travel. All are interesting. ALL.OF.THEM.
