When I was in Chicago a few years back I bought my daughter a beautiful warm winter coat that had a hoodie.  It is warm, cozy and worth every single penny that I paid for it as she is currently Ottawa and it gets mighty cold there.  The funny thing is I saw a winter coat for Lola the Wonder Dog last week at my local PetSmart that was almost a replica of her coat.  As we head into the colder weather, it occurred to me that our dog, Lola, did not have a warm winter coat or jacket to keep her warm in the cold.  She has a fleece jacket that my mom made her a few years ago but a jacket, a real winter jacket or coat, she did not have.

Warm Winter Coats for your Dog

When I went to look for a coat, I found myself in front of the North  Fetch  Athletics™ display.  The variety of styles is what got my attention.  There are coats and jackets that are black, grey, hot pink and aqua blue. There was also styles that looked like a ski jacket and those that looked more like an overcoat.  As you can see the grey coat has a hoodie with faux fur around the edges and two very well placed pockets.  My daughter that this would be very convenient to carry poop disposal bags.    I love the colour but I think that Lola would be better in a bright colour.  The aqua blue jacket had not hoodie but it did have a different type of closure.  This one was easy to access because there were no wholes in the jacket.  This was fastened by overlapping two sections across the dogs chest.  What I really liked about that model was that dogs could be wider with a greater girth across the chest.

The Puffer Coat was the model that I decided to get Lola the Wonder Dog because it is designed more like a vest.  So there are actual arm holes that she has to slip into. It makes for a more secure fit.  It will also stabilize the vest and keep it from moving around.  The coat is secured with two Velcro strips that run from her chest to her belly. I have had other coats that fasten across the chest but they can sometimes stretch or loosen up after a while.  The North Fetch Athletics coat Puffer Coat is made of a water resistant and durable quilted shell with a soft fleece lining and faux-down insulation providing the ultimate in warmth.   The Puffer coat also features a leash collar opening for easy access to leash and harness attachment.

I wanted you to get a better idea of how the Puffer Coat fit Lola so I put together a short video for you to see how she fits the coat and how easily she moves in it and more importantly, I wanted you to see how great she looks in the coat!  I got her the XXL size.  On each of the tags, NFA will tell you the approximate weight in pounds and kilos aw well as an example of the breeds that would likely fit in the size.  You know that you can get quality dog jackets and coats from North Fetch and to be honest they are affordable too because they are on sale until December 15th!

  1. Hi! I know this is random but do you know if you could get ahold of any North Fetch products? I can’t find them anywhere in the US or online.

  2. Absolutely adorable winter coat! We live in Florida so I don’t think we really need one while we are home… but I’m sure our pups would love one of these when we visit the midwest during the winter months!

  3. How adorable! I remember my little dog hated putting anything on but I felt bad in the mornings and evenings when it would get chilly! Dogs can get cold too so I love that they offer options in PetSmart

  4. That is amazing! I had no idea they had warm winter coats for dogs…and they look so stylish too! I wonder if they have some for cats. It’s been cold in our area lately…dropping down to twenty degrees. Although our cats really do not like to wear outfits. Everytime I put on a shirt on them they act like the can’t walk! LOL!

  5. Now I know where all the puppy owners are getting those adorable winter coats for their dogs! The snow is falling and the temperature has dropped drastically the last couple of days but you still have to get out there and walk the pups!

  6. Oh, these are adorable! I’m not sure how my dog would like wearing a coat, but it sure would be nice to keep her a bit dryer through the winter. Nicer for my floors too!

  7. I am loving these warm and stylish coats for dogs. I hate to see dogs out on a cold day without any protection. They feel the cold too and need a comfy coat like these to stay warm!

  8. Awwwh, those are so CUTE! I know my sister would love one for her dog, heh. Would totally get a kick out of seeing one of those poofy jackets on her chocolate lab/french mastif. 🙂
