Our 4M topic of the day: Storing children’s artwork and projects.
As the school year is finally winding down, it is time to accumulate all those wonderful works of art that your kids made this year. You may have done this already using a great product that a friend of mine told me about:

The L’il Da Vinci Store and Display cabinet. It is a sort of shadow box that has a spring loaded backing so that you can stack works of art one on top of the other. Then you can hang on the wall or place on the table for all the world to see and admire. It is probably best if you see this You Tube video to understand the full effect.

If you order through Vat19.com ( an on-line gift store – similar to Amazon.com) you will be paying $29.95 US for a 8 1/2″x11″ frame with $19-47 US in shipping or 12″ x 18″ frame for $39.95 US with a $25-57 shipping charge. Although this is an expensive little organizing tool, I think it would be great to accumulate all the art work in one place and then sort through it at the end of the year. Each frame can carry up to 50 pieces of paper. I would assume that if the art is bulkier the number that it could hold would be less.

So your task, my blog readers, is to amass all the pieces of art and school projects together that you have kept (I know you have kept some, I have seen some of your fridge doors and family ‘in-boxes’… you cannot fool me). Select the TOP TEN and ask your child which one was their favourite (and why). Document their answer on the back of the art. Then choose the one that was your favourite and document why. Now store it in a keepsake box or keep it in the frame until the start of a new school year.

If you find it hard to decide, just take a picture of the different projects and art and burn it to a CD. This way, you can refer to it later or if you are really ambitious, you can load it to a digital frame and see them all over again — without the bulk.

This Manic Monday Minute task may take longer than 15 – 20 minutes but it is worth it. Just make sure that at the end of the process, you have TOSSED ALL THE UNWANTED ART WORK AWAY!

Please let me know how you have fared and if this idea worked for you. Happy sorting!
