We are finishing the third month of 2021 which began with the culmination of the second lockdown period. I look ahead to spring and pine for the days when I can freely travel. I know I am not the only one at DownshiftingPRO who is subscribing to the philosophy #DreamNowTravelLater.
I can handle staying closer to home as I patiently wait for my turn to get a vaccine (and yes, I will be getting one). There have been changes to our routines and many things are becoming the norm (face masks and social distancing). As we see shifting trends in travel, you will also see changes to DownshiftingPRO. They will involve going back to the topic that got me started blogging while still maintaining my true passion.

I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, you saw a daily post of organizing tips for the month of January. As that is traditionally #GetOrganized Month I wanted to change it up a bit from travel. As we continue with restrictions, we are looking for ways to simplify our life.

New topics on DownshiftingPRO

With that in mind, I decided to reach out to my readers and FB followers and ask what topics they want to read more about. If you have not already done do, you can add your two cents here. All answers are strictly confidential.
Touching base with my readers gives me a compass to follow. I want to keep you interested, informed and entertained. Review the feedback, readers have asked for three specific topics:
(1) downsizing (with tips on getting organized and tackling sentimental clutter);
(2) ideas on how to save for retirement (this was a huge concern for many) and lastly;
(3) bucket list ideas for travel with a focus on provincial travel. You all want to go to the Maritimes, Quebec, Western Canada and Ontario (in that order).
I am happy to oblige with my in-depth coverage of Quebec Maritime as I continue to partner with them for 2021. So far I have written about:
I will be reaching out to DMOs in the other regions to see what new and interesting destinations tips I can provide for travel in those regions. You can already find quite a few posts on Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
Another important change has been a re-focus on organizing and DOWNSIZING in particular. I have reconnected with some wonderful professional organizers from Canada and the United States to provided more insight into the process. Whether you want to declutter your closet and sell your clothes online, tackle your new empty nest reality or need help on how to move your parents into a retirement home there are new guest posts to read #ontheblog. I will continue to welcome guest posts as well as update some of my own posts.
I also hope you will subscribe to my “new” newsletter which will come out once or twice a month with new information about blog posts, giveaways, downsizing tips and travel plans. I will be bringing you more personal stories, guiding you through local day trips and entertaining you with more Netflix suggestions to keep dreaming of travel when you have to stay home.
If you haven’t already read my posts on Food Shows to watch on Netflix when you want to travel, I have a few suggestions: series in Spanish, French and Portuguese or incredible crime series from all over Scandinavia he a look at what shows you’ve been missing. Try your hand at #armchairTravel to Spain, Brazil, Denmark or Finland with my carefully curated suggestions.
I hope you remain with me as we transition into new topics and new challenges and adventures on DownshiftingPRO.
