On Monday, I challenge my readers to work through a quick 15 – 20 minute organizing task.  These tasks would involve tackling one small job.    It might be a kitchen drawer, a hall closet or your purse.  This exercise will help you get the ball rolling so you can do another job, increase the time you work on a project or a larger task. 4M (MMMM) tasks motivate you to get GET ORGANIZED!

This weeks challenge: tackle a drawer in your bedroom.  Where do you store all those intimate items?  Last week featured on Martha Stewart’s Organizing Tip of the Day.  were all sorts of drawer organizers.

I like the idea of using smaller, modular storage containers but I have to admit, that actually building dividers for drawers is a bit too labour intensive for me! There are plenty of products on the market at many different price points and these are a few suggestion:

Martha’s tip showed these wonderful fabric dividers.  I use similar ones but purchased them at IKEA (see picture below). They come in different sizes and can be mixed and matched to suit your needs.  I always keep some on hand for clients (we don’t have an IKEA in London).

I use these IKEA fabric organizers in my kids’ drawers.  It makes ‘putting away the laundry’ much, much easier (and for any busy mom & dad that is essential).

Another favourite product that I like to use with clients are the “Dream Drawer” dividers.  I like them because they are spring loaded and they are easy to install but most importantly, they create custom sections.

As you can see we needed a large section for the underwear and a smaller one for bras. The last section has black socks – a staple for her wardrobe!

4M lesson = sort, purge and containerize! See the difference a little organization can do for 15 minutes a day!
